Symposium: Colombia – Historical Memory, Post-Conflict and Transmigration

The Department of Romance Literatures and Languages will be hosting an international and interdisciplinary symposium in Frankfurt, in collaboration with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. The sections will focus on questions concerning the peace negotiations and the conflict within Colombia; genealogies of the conflict as well as its protagonists and victims; collective memories during the post-conflict time; transitional justice; poverty and social inequality as causes for the conflict; civil society initiatives during peace building; migration and memory – the role of literature & film within post-conflict society; as well as 50 years of violence – 50 years of solitude: paying homage to Gabriel García Márquez’ “Cien años de soledad”. Please note that the conference language will be Spanish.
