Frank Estelmann

Frank Estelmann is an Academic Senior Councillor and Lecturer on French and Spanish Literatures at the Institut für Romanische Sprachen und Literaturen of Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main. He has worked on Picaresque Romances (genre, sequels, translations and adaptations), 19^th and 20^th Century Literatures (Travel, War, Gender, Urban Cultures, Intellectual History), Memory Studies and the History of Romance Studies. His research focus includes the cultural memory and media cultures of the First World War in contemporary France, of the Spanish Civil War and of the Genocide of the Rwandan Tutsi.

Frank Estelmann is the co-editor of the book Disasters of war. Perceptions and representations from 1914 to the present (2019, with Steffen Bruendel) and of Der infame Krieg. Aus- und Nachwirkungen eines missglückten Friedens // La guerre infâme. Effets et conséquences d’une paix ratée (forthcoming, with Steffen Bruendel and Pierre Monnet).
