Ruth Knepel


Ruth Knepel is a research fellow at the Department of English and American Studies at Goethe-University Frankfurt. After five years of working in advertising and event management, she studied German and English Linguistics and Literary Studies and reluctantly also covered Economics at Gutenberg University in Mainz and Technische Universität Darmstadt from where she received a Magister’s degree with a thesis about “Metaphors of the Financial Crisis” in 2011. Currently, she is working on her PhD thesis on iconic and mythological concepts in post 9/11 novels and TV series. Her main research interests are iconology, television series, Victorian literature and Gothic novels.
