Paris Attacks: November 2015 – Building a Collective Memory

Documentary (France 2021), directed by Joël Calmettes

This is a new documentary on the November 13 (2015) Paris attacks, and how memories have since evolved along different biological, social and cultural paths. It is an excellent example of the process of memory in all its dimensions: neuroscientists show how PTSD impacts on the brain, while philosophers and historians comment on evolving commemorative culture. In expert interviews you can see: Aleida Assmann, Astrid Erll, Francis Eustache, Pierre Gagnepain, Pierre Nora, Denis Peschanski, Henry Rousso … and in some footage also Sarah Gensburger, current president of the Memory Studies Association.
