Adriano de Salles Oliveira Barcha is a Ph.D. Candidate in Political and Economic Law at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (Brazil), where he is a merit-based scholar, in a cotutelle program with the Universidad de Huelva (Spain), where he is a talent attraction scholar. He is focused on his European Doctorate, having completed academic stays at the University of Trento (Italy), as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), and with an Erasmus+ scholarship at the University of Frankfurt (Germany). His research, titled “Digital Autophagia,” examines the mechanisms of systemic self-destruction (Brain Rot) and cognitive crisis induced by algorithmic platforms and surveillance capitalism, with the central objective of advocating for the criminalization of this phenomenon. He is a Professor of Political Science and Law and an Associate at N | Partners Advogados Associados. His recent work includes “The Legal Agent as a Functional Differentiator…” (Revista Penal México 27, 2025).
