Khizar Jawad is a historian specializing in the modern history of Pakistan, with a particular focus on the 1947 partition and its impact on Punjab. His PhD research, Governor Francis Mudie and the Politics of West Punjab, 1947-1949, examines the role of Sir Robert Francis Mudie in shaping the region’s postcolonial administration, combining historical analysis with insights from clinical psychology. Jawad’s work also explores Sikh history, early modern state formation in Punjab, and the intersections of trauma, memory, and oral history in the Muslim world. Committed to public history, he actively works to make Pakistan’s complex past accessible to wider audiences.
