TRANS.ARCH – Archives in Transition: Collective Memories and Subaltern Uses is a project funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (MSCA-RISE). Website: https://trans-arch.org/

TRANS.ARCH is building up an international network of young and experienced researchers who research the current forms and functions of archives in the context of the crises associated with globalization. The project not only investigates how archives enable new elaboration of historical and social models, but also how offer a basis for new approaches to the cultural heritage of societies. It focuses on the many political, legal, cultural, media, theoretical, aesthetic, and artistic aspects of archives developed by women, migrants, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and LGBTIQ + communities in Europe and Latin America.
Work packages:
- Memory, materiality, aesthetics: functions and materiality of archives in memory and trauma studies; aesthetics of Memory in Film, Literature, Art, and Media.
- Use and creation of archives by “subaltern” groups.
- History, theories, techniques, and methodologies of the archives.
Knowledge transfer
As a MSCA-RISE program, the project primarily consists of the mobility of the participants, networking, and knowledge transfer. The researchers will therefore travel to the participating universities in Latin America (at least 4 weeks / year) in order to carry out their research on site and to have the opportunity to disseminate their work at international and interdisciplinary congresses. Flights and stays abroad are financed by the project, so as are publication projects.

Requirements:
- You are a PhD or post-doc candidate at Goethe University, or are currently employed as Scientific Staff, Lecturer or Professor at Goethe University.
- Your contract is valid until at least 2024.
- Your current research relates to Latin America in one of the topics listed above (see: “Work Packages”).
- You are willing to travel to our partner universities in Latin America for at least 1 month per year.

Über das Projekt
„TRANS.ARCH – Archives in Transition: Collective Memories and Subaltern Uses“ ist ein Projekt, das vom Horizont-2020-Programm der Europäischen Union im Rahmen des Marie Skłodowska-Curie- Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (MSCA-RISE) finanziert wird.

TRANS.ARCH baut ein internationales Netzwerk junger und erfahrener Forscher:innen auf, die die aktuellen Formen und Funktionen von Archiven im Kontext der mit der Globalisierung verbundenen Krisen erforschen. Das Projekt untersucht nicht nur wie Archive neue Ausarbeitungen historischer und sozialer Modelle ermöglichen, sondern auch wie sie eine Grundlage für eine neue Zugänge zum kulturellen Erbe von Gesellschaften bieten. Im Fokus stehen dabei die unterschiedlichen politischen, juristischen, kulturellen, medialen, theoretischen, ästhetischen und künstlerischen Aspekte von Archiven, die von Frauen, Migrant:innen, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous und People of Color) und LGBTIQ+ Communities in Europa und Lateinamerika entwickelt wurden.
Themenbereiche/Work Packages:
- Gedächtnis, Materialität, Ästhetik: Funktionen und Materialität von Archiven im Gedächtnis- und Traumastudien; Ästhetik des Gedächtnisses in Film, Literatur, Kunst und Medien.
- Nutzung und Erstellung von Archiven durch „subalterne“ Gruppen.
- Geschichte, Theorien, Techniken und Methodologien der Archiven.
Wissenstransfer – Reisen
Als RISE-Programm besteht das Projekt in erster Linie aus der Mobilität der Teilnehmer:innen, der Vernetzung und Wissenstransfer. Daher werden die Forscher:innen zu den teilnehmenden Universitäten in Lateinamerika reisen (mind. 4 Wochen/Jahr), um vor Ort ihre Forschung durchzuführen und die Möglichkeit zu haben, auf internationalen und interdisziplinären Kongressen ihre Arbeit zu verbreiten. Flüge und Auslandsaufenthalten werden vom Projekt finanziert, sowie Publikationsprojekten.
