Rebeca Lopes Cabral is currently developing her doctoral studies at the Universidade de São Paulo – Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo (University of São Paulo – Faculty of Architecture Urban Planning (FAU-USP) (São Paulo, Brazil)) with the funding of Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP). She holds an MA from the same university and a Bachelor in Architecture and Urban Planning from Escola da Cidade. Her research examines the relationships between memories of violence and spaces, focusing on the memorials related to Latin American dictatorships. She spent two periods as a fellow at the Instituto de Ciencias Antropológicas – Universidad de Buenos Aires (2015 and 2018), and developed fieldwork in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and Berlin, also with the funding of FAPESP. She worked as an assistant professor at Escola da Cidade, as a researcher at PISA: pesquisa+cidade, and is currently a member of the research groups OUTROS- Laboratório para outros urbanismos (FAU-USP) and  GADH – Gestão de Acervos e Direitos (FABICO/UFRGS).
